Gruelling! That's how I define solitude...Take my word for life... nobody on earth will be revered for leading a successfully lonesome life but for me! My friends bet on me holding my tongue dumb for at least five minutes! Guess what?? It's a battle now!! If only it were as big a sport as cricket, they would have raked in buckets of moolah..Silence is gold but who likes the yellow metal, It's so passe'
I'm a people's person, when I say this I literally mean I am one. I assimilate joy into my life and hopefully into other souls around me who do sneak a smile/giggle (targeted either at me or my blabber).. I wonder why people shy away from speaking. I will confess that speaking is really not an art, this is an innate capability which every human being is bestowed upon with and should be used in it's full capacity(unless one is muted by nature)
While I was in kindergarten, there had been a constant complaint from my teachers that I was less articulate. I took it up as a challenge to rescue myself from the derision! The following year I read a lot and blurted about everything-even as remote as a shoe-lace. Swashbuckled to the core! I somehow made my parents proud by not getting the same remark about myself in the next parents-teacher meeting. To be true, it was a different affair by then :( I was told off by my teachers and students that I am the noisiest in the class and often out-standing (read - standing out of the class as an act of punishment)! I was KNOWN...Believe me, I had on one hand the ecstacy of conquering my muted expressions in all its spontaneity and at the same time the onslaught of too many kvetches from my near and not so dear ones! It was a lot to handle for my wee little brain. I felt like a celebrity- Tugged down when you prefer to be silent and even otherwise.
With this ruptured idea of glory, I did trudge a long way until I was in my college. It was there where I made some friends for life! 'Friends for life' do have the right to judge and yell at you point-blank. It was a regular snap ' Sheila, aren't you tired of speaking' ,'We'll cellotape your lips'. These comments grew incessant as my talking grew. Much to my chagrin, the habit was holding steady on to my tongue marring all my attempts to correct myself.
It did bring me a job though. I headed to being a professional in one of the mutinationals! Nothing deterred me from practicing my ideologies that I had nurtured. Every team that I worked for was the noisiest during my tenure, often colleagues from the surrounding bay raised a brow to calm me down. I was and I am unremitting. Be it a game of cards, cooking, watching movies or reading a book.. I am never silent. I'm told off every now and then. But why should I be a silent observer when I know I can make a mark by speaking :) :)
I'm silent only when I'm alseep. If people have qualms, I don't care! When people refuse to listen to me , I vent it here :)

Five years etcetera!
The most clichéd question lingers in between my ears.. How do you see yourself five years down the line? A question hurled at most interviewees seeking their first job. Silly as we were, silly were our answers too.To quote for a fun laugh:
-I want to grow up the ladder and become a manager.
-I want to have achieved the Stellar award instituted by my company.
-I want to add value to the company by my expertise and help it grow.
-I want to ... blah blah blah
Every interviewer must have sneaked a furtive laugh in their gut!
Phew! a half decade past my first day at job. If I were to answer the question now!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer such a question. I would like to speak my mind. Your company gave the thrust that I required to start my career. The initial few months were mirthful as I made new pals from different colleges, explored avenues to chat with them, had spring flings! The boot-camp was the best period, having said that it was getting to know the rules well to help rustle up ways of wreckage! The first year went by in running errands for team. Second year, I put in my soul. It was an enabler for getting into your rival organisation with double the compensation you offered. In two years, I had already learnt the tricks-of-trade. I survived brazen -headed, evading work and spending most of the time having lunch(fagging for those who smoke) with a bunch of outlaws like me.
I discovered ways to download songs in office and watch movies online. Blogging and chatting was effected on the fly. I had pirated! Amply lied to the manager and gone on long vacations despite the staggering deadlines which were to be met. The last three years I was completely tempered by the ups and downs and have been sustaining!
Not a manager yet, not gained anything for the company yet :)
The above is the abridged version of every IT employee's life! It is purely fictitious and bears no resemblance to any person, specially me ;P

That’s Edinburgh for me!
They call it summer and it’s just a wee degree higher than what we have in winters. It’s not their fault! I just had the tangles off my hair on a no less than windy day and only to my shock it’s in snares again. It’s ostensibly ominous, somebody trying to undo your hair the moment you set out to rock the streets. Crazier than it sounds, it pissed the entire Edinburgh wetting every pit and mound. The temperatures nosedived enough to shatter all my plans of sightseeing. Believe me, it is summer here!
It is a sight to behold, when the sun shines bright, and the cold wind blows followed by a quiet drizzle you won’t realize unless you were out under the sky. Right through your window from behind the multitude of archaic smoke-brick buildings you can soothe your eyes with the kaleidoscopic view of the rainbow. The interbred colours render the sky with the Midas touch! I was infested with the compelling urge to soak up all the colours and swash on to the canvas of my otherwise bland life!
Yet I managed to set out for the remaining bit of the day clad in an overcoat, long boots and my wily friend – the umbrella. I’d like to call it my friend though it has acted more of a fiend at times I needed it. There’s a thumb rule in Edinburgh- ‘You never venture out without an umbrella', as the rain Gods are very active here and might shower their bounty anytime, unannounced. I left home despite the weather, all geared up come what may. I had hardly known that my preparedness was confined to me and not my friend. A strong wind blew and lo, it blew off! It din’t wait a jiffy leaving me chasing it in a wasted attempt.
This is routine now. I’m undaunted by the weather and despite all the trials and tribulations I’ve managed to catch a glimpse of the gargantuan castles, the seasonal abode of the Queen, the majestic streets flanked by statues of great Scottish men! How could I miss the kilt? You could occasionally catch sight of men scuttling to offices in kilts, agreeably hot! From savoring the haggis to the Scotch whisky, it’s all done here.
It’s a sleepy little city as I always say, but has its own subtle charm. A land where the sun doesn’t seem to set, the things to be done here are aplenty. I would say it’s a place which leaves you in peace in retrospection. A verdict hands down!

Little somethings!
A gasp of air, and there I go! I'm still breathing! Just watched the super-hyped movie 'Karthik calling Karthik' which does not live up to one's curiosity! I wasted some two and half hours watching Farhan Akhtar trying hard to convince the audience to hold on to their seats...Undoubtedly, Deepika Padukone, steals the show by the her ravishing looks leaving most of the guys drooling. She is the only justice to the moolah you've doled out!
Also had a chance to watch the Oscar nominated movie- Hurt Locker. The base idea was beautiful and did teach me that watching Karthik calling Karthik was self inflicted hurt locker. Somehow , not very happy with the editing of the movie and being an IT guy, I would have been a better person to do that. Please please please... give me a break! Let's see how it fares! Stay tuned to the Academy Awards being aired on 7th March 2010.
A breathtaking salsa performance...Naah! not by me! Choreographers from outside Tesco! But yeah, I did manage to shake a leg on stage and do some ungainly stunts! Nonetheless people eulogised! People have some taste missing there :)
Prepared Chilly Paneer! Googled the recipe on the internet, procured the ingredients and set on to work! Turned out OK , but my sixth sense condemns it still! Could have been better!
Played doubles, though have been doing it singles all the time. The ping-pong ball has rendered me quite nimble around the table. Have shed few inches ;) that's the sole motive of my playing. My opponent is quite competent and sure she gives me a run for the ball ....No pun intended :)
Just read the book 'Unaccustomed Earth' by Jhumpa Lahiri(an assorted collection of short stories) and got to learn a lot about Bongs and their foreign-settled counterparts! Personally I have a lot of Bengali and pseudo-bengali friends! So I would actually say it's a good write before they knock me down! She is a beautiful author and indeed you get to learn a lot while you read the works of such accomplished writers!
Have been networking, net-working and working! It's all been fun! So here I come to stay in touch!
